Since Super Bowl 52, Butler and Belichick have since spoken and patched up hard feelings that remained. Butler was inexplicably benched for the game, as New England went on to lose 41-33 to the Philadelphia Eagles. Another old friend, Dion Lewis, is the current running back for the Titans and will meet his former team for the first time on Sunday.

This is also a matchup of former linebacker Mike Vrabel, now Titans head coach, against Belichick, the coach he played for. Vrabel is ready for the tall task of out-coaching the greatest of all-time.

“I can’t deny the fact I played there for eight years and we had a lot of success. Bill was my coach. He traded me to Kansas City, we didn’t talk for a couple months, maybe a year.

“Then we became friends, and I used him as a resource when I started my coaching career, and still talk to him a lot now. This week we’re competitors. We’re always competitors as far as I’m still coaching and so is he. I guess it’s unique from that standpoint.”

The Patriots offense was terrific again last week, as Tom Brady outdueled Rodgers. However, it was New England’s defense, forcing a fumble by Aaron Jones in the fourth quarter, which ultimately proved to be the difference in the game, as the Patriots went on to score two touchdowns to break a 17-17 tie.

Belichick will likely scheme Lewis out of the game. This means Marcus Mariota, who has struggled to find consistency and accumulate yards this season, will need to step up and rely on his arm, not just his legs, in order to move the New England defense around to kickstart what has been somewhat of an anemic offense in 2018.
